PURPOSE

 

The NCC Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2016. The HOF was created as a place to recognize, preserve, and honour the athletes, teams, coaches, and individuals who made significant contributions to NCC Athletics.

 

CRITERIA

 

In order to maintain the integrity of the Hall of Fame, nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and moral character. All candidates are judged on their significant and/or long-term contributions to athletic endeavours. Candidates can be nominated as an Athlete, Team, Coach, or Contributor/Builder. Candidates are unable to nominate themselves or be nominated by direct family members. Nominations will be considered active for ten years. All entries must be submitted on the official NCC Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination Form. The nomination form is available via the Athletic Director’s office or the gonavs.ca website.

 

NOMINATION AS AN ATHLETE

A nominee must have:

 

  • demonstrated outstanding achievement in a Sport or displayed above-average proficiency in several Sports over multiple years (2015 to present 'N' letter holder); or

  • Continued after graduation to distinguish themselves through outstanding athletic achievement; or

  • through participation in Sport(s) brought honour or positive recognition to Niagara Christian Collegiate; and

  • has graduated from NCC for a period of not less than 3 years.

 

*Members of the Hall of Fame Committee shall be empowered to make exceptions to the 3-year waiting period should the decision to do so be approved 100%.

 

NOMINATION AS A TEAM

Two or more athletes competing together as a unit in the same sport must have:

 

  • achieved distinction at the local, regional or provincial level; or

  • through participation in Sport(s) brought honour or positive recognition to Niagara Christian Collegiate; and

  • have as a majority, graduated from NCC for a period of not less than 3 years.

 

NOMINATION AS A COACH or CONTRIBUTOR/BUILDER

A nominee must have distinguished themselves through exemplary service and commitment to the NCC athletics program under one of the following categories for a period of not less than 5 years.

 

CONTRIBUTOR

The nominee must have;

 

  • served NCC as an administrator, team manager, volunteer or in any other operational capacity and made significant contributions to the NCC athletics program

 

BUILDER

The nominee must have;

 

  • contributed significantly to the development of an athletic team(s) or the NCC athletics program. This includes financial supporters, sponsors and board members. 

 

COACH

The nominee must have;

 

  • achieved distinction at the local, regional or provincial level; or

  • through participation in coaching Sport(s) brought honour or positive recognition to Niagara Christian Collegiate; and

  • contributed to the overall well-being and success of the NCC athlete. 

 

SELECTIONS PER YEAR

A maximum of five (5) inductees can be inducted annually. No more than two (2) from anyone sport and no more than (1) team may be selected in any given year. 

 

 

HALL OF FAME SELECTION COMMITTEE

Chaired by Athletic Director. The committee members include the Principal or Vice Principal, 1 current coach, 1 current faculty member or NCC staff member, and 1 alumnus or member at large.

 

INDUCTION CEREMONY

The induction ceremony date will be held during the homecoming weekend in the fall. NCC HOF inductees will receive a plaque at the time of their induction. A HOF program will be developed online recognizing the accomplishment of all the inductees.
